The Amazing Spider-Man included a baffling mid-credits scene featuring a mysterious man in a hat confronting Curt Connors, while The Amazing Spider-Man 2 saw him talking to Harry Osborn and going about setting up the Sinister Six. A photo even surfaced of him putting Norman Osborn's head in storage, and while Marc Webb later identified him as Gustav Fiers (an obscure character from a Spider-Man novel who had little in common with this version), the original plan was for him to be Electro.
Either way, he was clearly set to be a key player, but in a new interview with Cinema Blend, even Andrew Garfield admitted to being baffled by the character.
