After an impressive run at the box office ($700M worldwide total), Lionsgate released The Hunger Games on Blu-ray and DVD this past Saturday. The studio has now revealed that the film sold 3.8 million DVD and Blu-ray copies over the weekend. The film marked the largest digital distribution release in the studio's history. 1.3 million of the total units sold were from high-definition Blu-ray sales, which are more profitable for the company (the two disc DVD set costs $30.98, while the Blu-ray set costs $39.99).
