Gans has also written the screenplay and will direct the French language version with a budget of around €33 million ($43.2 million). Sileny Hill is generally considered to be among the best video game adaptations out there (not exactly difficult I know), and his genre mixing Brotherhood Of The Wolf, also with Cassel, is something of a flawed masterpiece imo.
Of course there have been numerous versions of this story already, from Disney's much loved animated feature to the recent travesty Beastly. Guillermo Del Toro is also said to be interested in directing his own take with Harry Potter's Emma Watson. There is another French version of the story out there too, the bizarre 1975 flick La bête (The Beast). There have been a few comic book adaptations too, including a limited series from Marvel with X-Men's Beast and Dazzler!
